Paladin — the oath made armour

The Paladin is the class that fits the game’s title most obviously: an oath, heavy plate, a hammer and a shield. The store confirms the class and its own weapons. It does not confirm a single vow, aura or smite.

What the official art shows

The lineup shows a Paladin in white and red plate with a large hammer and a round shield, dark hair and a heavy build. The silhouette is the widest after the Warrior: shield forward, hammer low. It reads as a class that expects to be hit.

The likely game plan

A Paladin usually trades raw clear speed for stability: block, armour, regeneration and a party-style aura that in a single-player game becomes a self-buff. The confirmed Vow system is the natural home for a Paladin fantasy — swear an oath, gain power, accept a cost — but the store does not attach Vows to a class. It is possible every class can use them.

  • Clear: a hammer slam, a consecration or a shield charge. Watch for area coverage.
  • Single target: a smite or a block-counter. Paladins often have low boss damage unless they invest.
  • Defence: block, armour, life regeneration and possibly a vow. This should be the class’s selling point.
  • Bossing: can you keep a vow active while dodging, or does the cost stack too fast?

What to test first

  • Does the shield block attacks, spells, or both?
  • Is there a vow/aura before the first Guardian?
  • Does the class have enough damage to clear a rare pack before the flask runs out?
  • Can the hammer attack while moving, or is it a standing slam?
  • Does the Oath HUD button interact with the Paladin differently?

The build shape to aim for

  1. One main slam

Area first, single-target second. A Paladin that cannot clear packs will feel invincible and useless at the same time.

  2. One block/guard layer

Shield, armour or a vow. Stack one, understand its uptime, then add damage.

  3. One oath

If Vows are class-agnostic, pick the one whose downside you can actually manage. Do not take a damage vow you cannot sustain.

  4. One movement skill

Heavy classes still need to cross a randomised map. Test the charge before you commit.

What would change this page

A skill list, a vow list, or any official statement that the Paladin is the “oath” class. Until then, the connection between the Paladin and the Vow system is our inference — a strong one, but still an inference.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Paladin the tank class?
Not officially. The art and genre convention suggest a durable melee class, but no role labels or stats have been published.
Are Vows exclusive to the Paladin?
Unknown. The store describes Blessings and Curses as a general build system with Vows, Woe and marking. It does not attach them to a class.
Does the Paladin have holy damage?
Not confirmed. “Paladin” implies a holy fantasy, but the damage types and skill names have not been published.
