Warrior — the heavy answer

The Warrior is the class the official art puts first: greatsword on the shoulder, red armour, a beard you can see from the skill bar. The store confirms the class and its own weapon set; it does not confirm a single skill. Here is how to evaluate it honestly.

What the official art shows

The class lineup shows a broad-shouldered warrior with a massive greatsword, red and brown armour, a topknot and a heavy beard. The silhouette is built around weight: wide stance, big weapon, armour plates. If the animation team followed the art direction, this is a class that commits to swings.

The likely game plan

A Warrior in this genre usually trades range for durability and area coverage. The fantasy is walking into the pack, not backing away from it. The store’s example of a Cyclone that fires Ember Bolts while channelling is the clearest signal of the design ceiling: a channelled melee skill that can be converted into a ranged engine through supports. It does not say the Warrior gets Cyclone, but it is the example most associated with a spinning melee archetype.

  • Clear: wide melee arcs and a movement skill that damages or pulls. The store promises you can “zoom through packs with a movement skill”.
  • Single target: the usual weakness. Look for a slam, bleed or armour-break skill that rewards standing still.
  • Defence: armour, life and possibly block. The HUD gives two flasks; a Warrior should get more value from each charge.
  • Bossing: the question is whether the class can dodge a Guardian phase without losing its damage window.

What to test first

  • Does the first attack animation lock you long enough to get hit by a rare?
  • Is there a movement skill before the first Guardian, or do you walk?
  • Does the class have a answer to ranged packs, or must it eat projectiles?
  • Does the Oath button do something defensive, offensive or both?
  • Can you cancel a swing with a flask or a dodge?

The build shape to aim for

Without skill data, the safe plan is a single main damage skill, one movement skill, one guard/utility skill and two auras or vows. The passive tree screenshot shows class starting nodes and a searchable tree; path toward life and the weapon cluster that matches your main skill, not toward every damage node with a pretty icon.

  1. One main skill

Pick the widest melee skill you can sustain. Link supports that add area, damage or conversion — not five different attacks.

  2. One movement skill

This is non-negotiable in a randomised map. Test its cooldown and whether it can cross gaps.

  3. One defensive layer

Armour plus life is the baseline. If the tree offers block or endurance charges, take one and understand its uptime.

  4. One vow or curse

The Blessings and Curses system is confirmed but unexplained. Read the tooltips before you commit gold to refunds.

Playtest report: the Leap Slam Warrior

If the report is accurate, the Warrior has at least four active skills, a shield movement option and a leap slam. That is a much more mobile kit than the greatsword silhouette suggests. It also suggests crit scaling is available to the class, which is not in the store copy.

Do not copy the 45% number. It is a character-screen snapshot from an alpha, with unknown buffs and unknown support interactions. The useful information is the shape of the kit: a leap, a charge, a spin and a slam.

What would change this page

A published skill list, a gameplay video with the Warrior HUD, or a playtest build would all change this page. Until then, treat any “best Warrior build” video as entertainment. The class is confirmed; the build is not.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Warrior a tank or a damage class?
Not confirmed. The art and genre convention suggest a durable melee class, but Crater Studios has not published role labels or stats.
Does the Warrior get Cyclone?
Unknown. The store uses a Cyclone that fires Ember Bolts as an example of the support-gem system, but it does not say which class receives Cyclone.
Is Warrior good for a first character?
It is a reasonable choice if you already enjoy melee ARPGs. Melee classes usually demand more positioning and gear than ranged classes, but they also tend to be more forgiving when hit.
Does the Warrior have Leap Slam?
A playtest creator reports Leap Slam on a Warrior, alongside Earthshatter, Cyclone and Shield Charge. The developer has not published a skill list, so treat it as a strong lead rather than a confirmed class skill.
